Electrical Engineering - A Mystery
Sumit is a 2006 batch passout of Electrical Engineering from National Instt. of Technolog, Nagpur (VNIT). Currently, he has been appointed as the Sales & Marketing Manager at Oracle India. WiwBee thanks him for his contribution. |
The archives of my life flash before my eyes. Thought after thought, memory after memory, it all flashes through in a kaleidoscope of color and speech. Events seem to be moving at a rapid pace, as though I'm on the verge of dying; falling into a vortex of darkness where I'm all alone, with no one by my side, no family. It started with them, and there it shall end. I recall what my father once told me about choices and priorities.
Since time immemorial, or so it feels,I've been lectured about the choices we make and their eventual consequence in our lives. The eternal truth is Life is all about making choices
Knowledge brings respect, a statement that is very accurate in my community. Being an engineer, moreover, is supposed to make one even brighter than being a doctor, for there are not many people who would venture into the intricacies of physics or design to understand the magic of electricity.
Electrical engineering is a mystery, as it almost seemed veiled . It is the pathway, the guiding light towards the realization of my dreams and those of my family. To experience firsthand the vibrations of machines in the laboratories, to work in awe of the mighty wonder of electrical energy, to wander into quiet introspection on the way the world turns on electricity, this is my life.
My family has supported me in this great venture, and I must now use my knowledge to benefit them, and this I can undoubtedly do, using my chosen profession, electrical engineering.
During my college years I tried to understand the intricacies of electron which I can never see, electromagnetic radiations I can never feel & equations which I can never understand. Yet,I enjoyed the depth & coverage of the subject ranging from programming in microprocessor to designing transformer.
My alma mater,VNIT Nagpur, formerly REC Nagpur is reputed for its mechanical & electrical curriculum. This gave me a chance to study & understand the best exposure I could get regarding the practicals, seminars,& faculty lectures. I learnt by making mistakes the first one of which included short circuiting of transformer, ammeter & voltmeter. Yet,it didn't deter me from making experiments in the labs but fortunately nothing untoward happened.
My four years In electrical engineering gave me exposure to various aspects in learning like interaction with my batchmates, professors ,participation in various technical events. Hence,I feel somehow those were the best days of life.
